I would really like to meet other lesbians who have professional careers. I find it impossible to meet lesbians who aren't drunks, strung out, or who actually have goals for their lives. I've met a very few, but it is extremely rare. Of course I wouldn't mind meeting some that were close to my age and single, but I'm absolutely certain that I'm asking WAY too much when I add that in. I'd just like to make friends with some worthwhile people who share my sexual preference. So.....am I the strange one for having a career and goals?

MySpace and Facebook are crap. Been there, Done that. As for "places professionals hang out," only straight professionals apparently hang out...

Have you checked out GFN?
(Gay Financial Network)
http://gfn.com/professional.cfm
(ps: shark boy down there is full of crap. Actually the truth is that a much larger percentage of gays and lesbians are professionals as compared to their straight counterparts. The "why" is because gays and lesbians tend to focus more on their work in order to maintain a certain level of 'decorum' around their lives.)
I know more professional gays and lesbians than non-professional.

I've had a few lesbian friends who were very professional and had good careers..Maybe you're looking in the wrong places..but as a gay male..I don't know where to tell you to look...I believe that (at least in Vancouver) there is/was an association of professional lesbian women. Maybe if you could google on that --or something similar in your own area you might get some leads.

Nope! I fully intend to have a very successful life! Try joining some sort of group, maybe a GSA, see if you can meet professional lesbians. Go to an online chatroom if you feel like, or search myspace with the orientation as a qualifyer. You'll find people.

I wouldn't say I'm a professional, but I will be. I'm going to be a movie director, and anything else I want to be. I have a published book, and I get paid for my artwork commissions besides the film.
So, yes, here's an aspiring one right here.

You're looking in the wrong places. There are many successful career women who are lesbians. Check some of the local publications for more information.

The reason for that is its just easier to meet the drunk loser's. The bar really isn't the place to meet anyone, gay or straight but its hard to meet les's because you can't always spot the ones walkign down the street. We aren't always obvious. I have a masters in psycology and ended up as a contactor. We aren't all losers. =) Keep your eyes open

everyone is so against anything different so its kinda scary to come out. We don't know how everyone will react so we hold it in. Let her come out on her own and don't push it. Anyways she might not be gay, she may just have some social problems.
