Frist i would like to start with i am 38 weeks and my doc wanted to induce me, the reason is that my husband will be going over seas to Afganistan for 4-6 months and the doc said i would be fine.

I went in on the 4th for the cervidel strip and then i went in the next morning the 5th for some pit. I went in at 1cm dialated. I was told that i should have been at least a 3. they put me on the pit for 6 hours and i only got to 2cm. They told me at three they would break my water. I can not dialate anymore and am in so much pain. It is really horrible. they gave me morphin shot in my butt and it has taken away some pain but i am in so much pain now i can not even get up to go the washroom. Please help me and my hubby. He thinks it was a mistake for my doc to induce so early but she said i was 110% ready. I should metion that i am 100% defaced and my cervix was what she called RIPE when they induced me. thanks in advance.

A few other things, This is my first baby, my due date is not until the 22 of July. My hubby leaves end of Aug early Sept not positive yet. I am confused on why they would give me pit and then send me home? Please help with that and any thing else that would help me break my water. I am in ALOT OF PAIN, there is noting that the hospital can do for me they said.

When is your due date? First baby? When does your husband leave?
Are you still contracting? Are you in the hospital?
Before induction, doctors due a BISHOP score to determine if your cervix is ready to deliver. He/she assesses the dilation, effacement, station [ how far down the baby's head is ], consistency of the cervix [ firm = not ripe, medium = not firm or soft, soft = kinda squishy ]., and poition of the cervical opening = posterior, middle, or anterior. If it is less then 5, they give you medication such as the cervidel.
Next morning, they start pitocin.
You can't make yourself dilate - you just pray your uterus and the good Lord will take care of you and the baby.
Sometimes the ruptured membranes with the pitocin can make you go into a good labor pattern very quickly.
[ It did for me - both my babies had to be induced! ]
Good luck, and God bless!

They say walking, squatting and sex are ways to get you to dilate....other than that, there isnt much that can help, you will dilate as your body feels ready...your doctor may decide to break your water anyways to help you along regardless, my doctor had to break my water before I was 3cm because I was contracting really hard, and not dilating and my babies heart rate was dropping, so he HAD to start moving things. If the pain doesnt stop, you need to call your doctor again...find out whats going on....good luck

all i can suggest is that you relax, if you get tense and upset it will stall your labor. (believe me, i've been there)

i know it is hard because pit causes sharp contractions, but you need to try and breathe through it and relax as much as you can!
