it's going to be awhile. you could always go to walmart and use those neato electric carts you know. those look like so much fun and you'd have a great excuse for using it.

I am sorry to hear that. I hope you get better soon. When I was 25, I had a similar situation to you, except that I only had 1 metal plate and 7 screws. I also wore a cast for 6 weeks and then no weight bearing on it for 3 weeks. I was lucky in that when I was going through this I was able to stay at my mom's house. She took me to stores all the time throughout the process. I was able to live a fairly normally life with her help during that time. Once I could put weight on my leg, I healed even more quickly and regained the muscle strength in that leg. The doctors were very surprised how quickly I recovered. Since then, I go for walks, play sports and led a normal active life. I would say within 2 months of getting the cast off, I was able to do anything I wanted (each person is different though). I know you get impatient, I know I did. But keep a positive attitude. I think the worst is behind you and things will start progressing more and more quickly! Good luck!

You poor thing! Soon you will be walking again. In the long run, the length of time before you can walk on it again is not important. A complete healing IS important.
Ask the doctor for a referral to physical therapy.
Walmart and other stores have those cool electric carts you can whiz around it. My husband was casted for 9 months with a tib-fib from skiing. We used a wheelchair and went pretty much where-ever we wanted. His leg was so shattered they could not surgically plate it together. He's fine now and speed walks at the mall every day.
Just hold on a little longer.

Be imaginitive, discover some couples video games, seek the internet for imaginitive issues to do. perchance get him to tell you issues he might by no potential sluggish right down to talk approximately in the previous. Plan your destiny.... considerable ingredient, wait and spot, he gets grumpy and stir loopy. purely attempt to maintain him off that leg, the quicker he rests it and we could it heal, the speedier he will faraway from mattress. additionally, supply him lots of calcium and vit.D. possibly even attempt out some new cooking recipes, he would be an particularly good guinea pig for somewhat. :) good success and God Bless!

results vary

you didn't mention how old you are, the general state of your health, nor where the break is or its more specific kind.

my wife, then about age 44 and ordinarily active, did the same, with spiral fracture into the ankle joint.

she was on crutches for about 2 months after the cast came off and walking fairly normally, after rehab therapy, about 6 months afterward.
