The nicest old school Cougar I've ever seen was Black Cherry. Looked like you could just eat the thing. In certain lighting it looked black, in others it look dark cherry, but the mix was amazing.

It depends on whether the body is straight. If it is imperfect don't paint it black or a dark color.
That said, black would look awesome on that car.
If it has a crap body I might go with the pearl white that is on new Cadillac Escalades, etc.
