That's great that you have a goal like that, but in all honestly you have do be at the top of your game even at 11 to win over the folks that cast broadway shows. Singing decently and pretty good acting doesn't cut it, but of course practice can make perfect! Do you live in a big city where they might audition for a tour or a broadway show? Even if you do well in your city, if they find someone they like in NY, they'll hire that kid over you because it's cheaper. No travel or housing expenses.
And BTW, agents do not cost money (anyone who tells you they do is lying. Agents get a percentage of your pay AFTER they help you get a job and it's 10%), but classes do and if you're going to get better you need proper training. Doing things on your own, you risk damaging your voice (and what low notes? If you want lead roles concentrate on your mezzo to soprano range and make sure you have a nice vibrato). For acting you can absolutely study from technique and play books at the library and get into theatre which is free on the job training. Look up Uta Hagen, Constantin Stanislavsky (sometimes spelled Konstantin), and Sanford Meisner. Study their techniques. Also, read Audition by Michael Shurtleff. You can also see if your library has or can get from other libraries voice lessons on tape or CD. They're not the best by any means but it's better than doing things on your own and hurting your voice.
For theatre auditions, you can go to backstage.com or http://www.actorsequity.org/castingcall/... If you find the audition on the Equity site, you still may be able to go, as long as their not taking appointments from equity actor's only :-) On backstage.com you have to pay to get all of the info, but the initial search is free and you may be able to see enough info to find out the rest on your own without paying.

It's great to hear from a young person who has goals..a place they want to be ....like acting...start out in your city....where you are....get experience there first....call your local tv station and tell them what you can do and if you can apply for anything they are sponsoring.....if they say NO...don't give up....how about the local "little theater group". You can contact them also....they might have openings for workers volunteers so you can get experience there and also you might be able to try out for a part in a play! That would be COOL....Read the paper where you live and check the weekend news what is happening in your city.....there might be a TALENT SHOW...you can enter....you never know who is judging it...and who you will meet.....never stop dreaming and wanting your DREAM....you might not get it today or tomorrow but if you hang in there .....you WILL....

Raise your own money, do some extra chores. See if you can get your parents to take you to auditions! If you're that good then the people audioning you won't care if you have an agent or not. For most child stars, their parents are their agents!

Do you live in New York City? Broadway is in New York City. You have to live in NYC if you want to act.
