Try Meloni,, Teach Yourself PHP MySql and Apache in 24 Hours --- I think Sams publishes now. It is easy to follow and makes very easy task of getting the basics.

I purely popped back from a pass to to the destiny in my time gadget, and that i will inform you, this is how this is going to play out: -Hypertext Preprocessor will stay used by small company, grassroots builders, Unix/Linux server customers and amateurs -ASP will stay used by super company and residing house windows builders -JSP will stay used on Java company application frameworks and little or no else

Learning PHP and MySQL (O'Reilly, 2006) is a good book!
