Just curious to know what your experience was. I didn't even know that could happen. I was in labor and not progressing very well. When the doctor finally came to check me, he said my baby was breached. An ultrasound earlier that week showed everything was great and the head was dropped. I ended up having an emerg. C-section. When my son came out the cord was wrapped around his neck 4-5 times quite tightly. It was very traumatic.
I was so shocked by the whole situation. Is it very common for a baby to do a flip like that? Thank God our son is healthy, but I shudder to think of what could have happened.

My third flipped a week before I was to be induced to have her. It was actually the day after I had my first vaginal exam in my last trimester. Her head was down and the next day I felt her do something crazy inside me and 2 days before i was to be induced I went in for my check-up and her head was not down anymore!! I ended up having to schedule a c-section instead of an induction! And let me tell you having a c-section sucked compared to my 2 previous vaginal births. Her cord was wrapped around her also but only like once or twice, they also said I had a very long cord. Who knows? But having babies is very wierd but wonderfull at the same time!! Congratulations on a healthy baby!

My little one turned head-down at about 31-32 wks. I've been afraid that she will flip back, but she seems like she's going to stay that way. It is less likely for the baby to turn after 36 weeks, but it can still happen. I've heard that you will definitely know when the baby turns if it turns that late - it will be big enough to hurt when it does the flip. I've also heard that having the baby manually turned can be painful, and there are risks involved. One of my pregnancy books also said that the procedure is only 50% successful, because often the baby turns itself back around anyway. I would wait as long as you can to see if the baby is going to turn on it's own. You still have plenty of time for it to happen naturally. Good luck with your little one!

My oldest, now 12, flipped and ripped his bag of water 1mo. before his due date. He became an emergency c-section, foot first. The cord wasn't wrapped around him but because of his early arrival we had to have a neonate lung specialist check him out. It was a traumatic event for me also, my pregnancy was textbook perfect until then.

Thankfully they were able to do a bikini cut and I have been able to deliver normally since. I'm due with #5 any day now.

My third son did that. We had to have an unplanned emergency C-section because he wrapped around himself while we were waiting for him to move back the right way at the hospital. He is healthy, thankfully. It was scary, especially since he was so big and I knew he was, and was wondering if he was smushed and whatnot.

I was born with the ubilical cord around my neck as well, and when my mom was in certain positions in the hospital, the michine would go off to show my heart stopped. Pretty freaky, but I turned out okay. (I hope)

Sometimes when the baby is in distress he/she will flip over during labor.
