No. It is not OK to lie. I have found in personal and by observation that it is always best to be honest and communicate. If you are not and the other person finds out, they will be more hurt and or angry than if they knew before hand. I have had guys cheat on me and just not tell me that they were seeing someone else besides me. It is worse to find out that way than if they just told me outright. I would at least respect that person.

Now if you didn't like someone's outfit, you don't have to say anything at all, that would probably hurt their feelings. If they asked, you can say something like it looks good on you, but you don't have to say you don't like it. Or if you don't like how they look in it for real, then you can say, I think I would like to see you in something a little more... or with a different color, etc...

If you are throwing a surprise party for someone, then That is ok to lie about it. Otherwise, it wouldn't be a surprise.

If you are trying to lie to not lose someone, look at it as if they would find out in any other way if you would still lose them. If they knew you knew all along,,,,, what would they think of you then? Also, put yourself in the others shoes, would you want to know?

The only answer that I will justify is try not doing something that will risk you losing something important to you. Sometimes a lie can be found out, then you become not only a cheat as you are trying to pull a fast one, but also a liar. The person who trusted you, will no longer trust you.

Nothing is absolute, so it's impossible to answer this without details. If I were to lose a trophy or an award for an accomplishment I didn't really earn to begin with if I didn't lie...then no, that's not justifiable. If I were going to lose my child if I didn't lie...yes, it is justifiable to me (unless of course, I'm an unfit parent).

you have to weigh the risk

consider the consequences of the lie. how big or little it is. will the lie hurt someone or will the truth hurt more?

if you are caught in the lie, is the result going to be worse or equal to the result of the truth?

Well... when you lie, you DO lose something important to you... your honor.

So if the thing you want to keep is more important than your honor as an honest human being... then I say sure, go for it.

Depends on the situation. I do not advocate lying, but I would lie in a second to save my family's life.

In the end, the truth always comes out. Some things may not be meant to be yours. In the long run, the truth is always best. It is not ok to lie.

dep on the situation you are lying...if it would really only end up hurting yourself and no one else then yes...if you are lying to cover up something you did wrong that would hurt another person in addition to lying then no.
