Oh dear! I have to disagree. it's not ALL in vain, and although almost all I do is in vanity I know not all is in vanity.
Just look at these sentences, they almost seem to point that all is just babble, in vain. But let us beware of words and sentences, however beautiful you write. I choose to believe there is something else. An other option, unspeakable.

"It" is neither. Vanity can only be in vain. But a true vane may lead you to a vein of the Mother Lode.
