Avoid. Even if you've got to go cheap, at least get one with an AMD or Intel processor. Best Buy and others regularly have decent notebooks on sale in the $400 range, but this isn't one of them. Be particularly watchful in the next few weeks for back-to-school deals. I got a perfectly adequate Compaq last year for $400 (regular $650) at BB. It won't set any records, but it is perfect for a non-power user.

For the price, it's a little better than par. But if you're really pinching the pennies, wouldn't you rather get a desktop? If you're really strapped for cash, look for an OLPC. But it's not a bad buy. If I had $400 plus tax that I had to spend on a complete laptop, this would be a solid choice.

Its a $400 laptop. For an extra $200 you'll get a lot better laptop.

This has Vista Home Basic - not Premium. Premium is a lot better.

Get dual core CPU.
Get at least 1g of RAM.

If u dont have alot of money to spend on a notebook then just upgrade the memory for 60 bucks and it should run O.K.

If i would have to rate on scale of 1 too 10.

I would rate it a 4/10

with memory

I would rate it a 5.2/10

So yea its ok if u can spend more $$$$, then i would.

i think it crap,. it does not even have a processor from 1 of the 2 popular chip manufacturers. it has a via processor. it only has 512 mb of memory, which is definitely not enough to run vista smoothly. it only has a 60 gb hard dive which is hardly enough. and it does not have a dedicated graphics card. this laptops is crap and not worth anything.
