Would it cause a wider war? Would other countries become involved?

I think its an important question, as such an attack is inevitable if Iran refuses to turn away from its quest to join the nuclear club.

Depends. If it was a single surgical strike like what Israel pulled on Iraq's Osirak reactor, then there is a tiny but real chance the political damage can be minimized. If it's an all out attack then there will be instant regional war. For sure the US will be drawn into it. Israel will most likely be attacked from Syria and by air from Iran.

I believe if Israel attacked Iran then you may truely see a Jihad, holy war. Iran is 98% Muslim - Shi'a 89%, Sunni 9%. The Muslims would call on a Holy War against them. Many Muslims resent Israel, a Jewish nation, controlling Jerusalem - one of its most holy cities. Also the creation of Israel is still of sore spot for many Muslims due to its sovereignty over lands that were held by Muslims - the Palestinians. There is still a Muslim - Jewish dispute over the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. It would make relations in the region much much worse.

Nope, they shouldn't ...incredibly it would be somewhat unlawful,no longer that this has ever stopped Israel from doing some thing...in the beginning there is easily no coach that Iran is construction a nuclear weapon and in the event that they're construction one, there's no coach that they are going to use it... 2d,as a rustic that signed the nuclear non proliferation treaty,Iran has each and every stunning to nuclear technologies,as long because it incredibly is utilized in civilian purposes...and formerly there's no coach that they do no longer understand that... And,inat, whilst precisely did Iran threaten to apply their nuclear weapons (which do no longer even exist) to wipe Israel off the map?particular,Ahmadinejad reported that "Israel could be wiped of the map",yet from the place precisely are the nuclear weapons in this "direct quote"?

Israel will be in a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. If Iran succeeds in developing this weapon it is only a matter of time before Israel is hit. Should Israel wait until Iran gives this technology to other Israel hating states in the region? How will that help Israel?

Israel will probably do whatever it can to insure that does not happen. To do nothing will not endear them to their enemies and to attack will make them even more hated.

The only difference is right now their enemies hate them and want to wipe out Israel but lack the means. If Iran succeeds Israel's enemies will hate them and want to wipe them out only now they will have the means.

Israel has the ability to wipe it's enemies out sitting in silos right now. What to do, what to do indeed!

Such an attack would NEVER occur...

The moment you join the nuclear club your borders are stable and no one will attack you for fear of mutual assured destruction.

THEREFORE, Israel CAN'T attack Iran unilaterally should they get nuclear weapons.

Never happen. The Israelis are content to sit back and wait for another chance to respond in kind (as with 6 day war). They don't need to start anything; but they'll finish it. If anything, Iran attacks through Hamas/Palestinians/et al, and Israel unleashes arsenal. The Dome of the Rock gleams once more across the desert that once was Jordan/Iran/Syria.

Oil raises up to $150 a barrel.

Then Iran strikes back with "dirty" warheads making Israel unlivable for 1000 years (they won;t care about Palestinians, too).

Oil raises up to $300 a barrel.

Japanese and European economies crash.
Chinese and US economy crash.

Oil drops to $50 a barrel.

This is a bit of a touchy issue since the Israeli aircraft would have to overfly Iraq. Therefore, the US could not deny foreknowledge and approval of the raid.

Israel would just bomb them... probably no troops on the ground

all the ME countries would complain to the UN...

the UN would try to pass a mandate that the U.S. would block...

and nothing would be done...

see Iraq in the early 80s when Israel bombed them...
