I am going to step up a 55 gallon community tank. Which one:
1 bushynose pleco or 3 siamese algae eaters? Their diet will be supplemented:)
the other fish will be 6 cardinal tetras, 6 glowlight tetras, 6 corydoras panda, 6 dwarf neon rainbowfish (praecox), and 6 beckfords pencilfish in well planted tank.
Thanks for your opinions!

You will be much happier in the long run with the bushynose pleco. They don't get as big as the siamese algae eaters and they don't get aggressive like the SAE's either. I have seen SAE's as big as 7", and I hear they get even bigger. Your tank sounds sweet, but I'd get at least a dozen cardinals. You will really enjoy the panda corys, and I bet they end up being your favorite in the tank. 6 will make a nice little school.

The bristle-nose---more fun to watch, the SAE's better algae eaters. The best way to control algae in a planted tank is with frequent water changes to keep the nutrient levels low,and limit the photo-period to 12 hours or less.
Sounds like a fun tank.
More Cardinals would not hurt.

Sounds like a very nice setup, lots of color and plants. As for the clean-up fish, it's really up to you. I believe the pleco will get bigger, I had a common pleco that completely outgrew it's 30 gallon tank. But it seems that maybe the three SAE's would be able to clean more, since there are three of them. But really, it's up to personal preference...maybe you think one is cuter than the other?

The bushy nose pleco (Ancistrus) would be my choice for a community tank they just tend to get on with the job, I wouldn't put to many types in though. Siamese algae eaters can get a bit aggressive so I would steer clear of groups of these.

in case you particularly do no longer go with greater effective than one snail then I advise you purchase a snail and isolate it for couple of weeks to make particular it truly is not have been given any eggs brewing. (i might think of this concept's particularly foolproof yet once you have study someplace else that this technique does not paintings then overlook approximately this plan) If the snail DOES lay any eggs whilst in isolation (isolation will probably in basic terms could be in a cupful of water with approximately 0.5 a slice of cucumber dropped in) then you definitely can the two euthenise the eggs or sell the hatched offspring on eBay! i've got already made £40 merchandising wandering pond snails on eBay you're able to evaluate this somewhat a difficulty, i'm unsure! One snail for a fifty 5 gallon tank could no longer do too lots harm to the algae besides yet atleast you definately won't could feed it in assessment to a pair different fish algae eaters! different than that, no longer lots of a clue i'm afraid. playstation do no longer overlook to place a breathable lid on the coolest of the isolation cup, somewhat in case you go with a wandering snail...

Plecos are my preference; as SAE's get older, they seem to like tank mates instead of algae as snacks.

I really like my dwarf plecos - they only get to 6 inches, are left alone by other fish, and are great cleaners.
