She's a year old and was a pain in the rear but that's normal for a Dachshund. She bossed 4 of my small dogs and tried to eat 4 of the other docile small dogs. She's small herself. She ate their dog baskets and some nonparticular stuff and jumped a lot. Saved my son lots of boarding though. She was entertaining and very playful. Today, she got back home and is moping around like she's lost. The dog stays with us for a day or 2 every time they visit. The dog is very fond of the children who own her but neglected them today.

Dogs in general are very social creatures, and dachshunds especially love to be around people, and bond easily. It is likely that she misses you and your household, having adopted everyone as members of her "pack." My family loves this breed and has always had them. My mother and grandmother both have dachshunds, and when I visit from out of state, then leave, both their dogs mope for a couple of days, then snap out of it. They just want their whole family together all the time!

I guess she feels that you treated her better than your oldest son did.
