This is very difficult to answer. As we have seen in the past these Middle Eastern Tyrannies have a real propensity to over-play their hands. Remember Qaddafi in Libya? He kept up the brinkmanship until Ronald Reagan nearly tore him a new one with a contingent of F-111's. Then there was Saddam Hussein you saw what happened there. No matter how many concessions they win they just keep pushing and pushing their luck.
If Iran keeps pushing it's luck somebody will have to push back. If they are dopey enough (and I think the leadership is) to use any type of nuclear device against Israel, Iran and all of it's rich history will cease to exist.
Iran is working feverishly to develop nuclear weapons that may or may not work as planned. Israel has the real thing.
As it comes to this, should Israel attack presumptively? Should America? How effective would it be to attack hardened underground targets? Should we, instead attack the leadership with conventional weapons?
There is no simple or one size fits all answer. I just hope America realizes how dangerous such issues are and choose the next president based on ability not on popularity or domestic issues.
Whatever happens we are going to need a strong, motivated and well equipped military. Thus far in recent history the Democratic leaders have not been military friendly and the military has not been Democrat friendly.

Iran will continue its nuclear program as is India and Israel. The Bush administration will continue to demonise Iran in an attempt to gather support in the USA and the world to attack Iran as they did Iraq. However, because this adminstration lost its credibility with most of the USA and the world, they will not pick up support.
It is highly unlikely that the Israeli lobby in the USA (which is probably the largest lobbying effort in Washington) will be able to move political leaders to back an attack on Iran due to two reasons:
1. We are already embroiled in a very unpopular war in Iraq. Most Anericans want the USA out of war situations.
2. We can't afford another long drawn out war economically or politically.
Therefore I think we will see Condi and George thumping their chests which will only strengthen what we see as the militant faction of Iran. Of course, the Iranians see it differently - sort of like we voted for a "chest thumper" (Bush) after 9./11 because we were afraid of so-called "terrorists" - Iranians are voting for their "Chest thumper because they're afraid of the USA invading their country.
Eventually, Bush will be gone and very likely a Democrat will become president and bring the war in Iraq to a painfull end and follow the bi-partisan Middle East Commission's recommendations to negotiate rrather than demand and make war. Hopefully they will also follow the advice to treat Israel and Palistine more equally rather than ignore Israel's cultural genocide of Palistinians which is a main cause of terrorist activities against tthe USA.

0, with America threatening to do the same as it did to Iraq it's hardly surprising that they would like something tangible to counter the threat. It's the US that will change course after the next elections hopefully. Let Israel take care of Iran's program as it did 20 years ago whether right or wrong, at least it was their business.

Iran is strong today because of Bush's wrong policy in the region. I don't believe US is able to attack Iran now and even pressure it diplomatically. There are 3 times more people there than in Iraq and if US attacks you can imagine what kind of disaster would that be!!!!!

That whole region of the world is a nutcase.
Iran will not abandon it's nuclear ambitions unless Israel takes them out first. And, believe me, Israel will do it.
Iran is toast. They are stupid to try to embard with their current plans of nuclear programs.

Europe will see a nuclear strike, and Israel will probably be the test target. Who knows we may see one here.
