I have a Betta fish, aka one of those chinese fighter fish, and I was wondering if it was ok to put him in poland spring water, from the bottle. I have not done anything to the water, and it is room temp. Is that ok, or does he need some pet store chemicals?

Yes, that water is safe for your betta, but you will do just as well using tap water and dechlorinator drops from the pet store. Far cheaper too!

No it's not ok, you always have to put the waterconditioner in your water, no matter where it comes from or if you had it sitting out for a day.
There is a special betta conditioner you can buy, but you can also use the regular waterconditioner like "Aqua Safe" as directed on your bottle to make your water really safe for your fish.
At least you will know that your water is really safe for your fish with the conditioner
Generally you should feed your betta once a day 3-6 pelletts at a feeding, and you should also feed him always around the same time, even fish adapt to routines, and they have a very good personality
Hope that helps
Good luck

Bottled water will be fine for your Betta. Much better than tap water (you never know what's in it). As far as feeding. I would give him a few pellets everyday. Don't feed him so much that he can't eat it all. If you see pellets falling to the bottom of the bowl then you are feeding too much.
Good luck with your Betta - they are really beautiful fish!
For a cool trick, put a small mirror up to the side of the bowl and watch him open up his fins - it's pretty neat. He'll think it's another Betta trespassing on his turf. He tries to make himself look bigger and scarier than he really is.

Room temp is Ok. I don't know what poland spring water is, however, I replace the water once/week using tap water + chems. The frequency probably depends on how big your tank is. My tank is probably 8" wide and 6" tall.
First, I'll fill a Tupperware with tap water and add a conditioning chemical (BetaFix Remedy). I'll let that sit for a day or so. Next, I'll get another Tupperware then scoop enough water into it for the fish to survive. I'll put the fish in that using a net. Next, I'll drain the tank then add the conditioned water. I'll then put the Beta back in his original tank w/the new water.
If your beta isn't eating there's this stuff called "Revive" that helps cure a number of ailments. For food, I have this stuff that looks like little hairs and add about 8 per day. I don't use pellets. They don't eat much.
In their natural element, Beta fish are supposed to survive in stagnant water. Thus, as I'm sure you've noticed you don't need a filter, pump, etc. However, I try to keep the water as clean as possible to avoid sickness and extend longevity.

Its better if you take out some water from the tank in which the fish was in and you should never change all of the water made up to 50 percent at atime, i would feed him maybe 2 to 3 bits every day and actually you can feed him 5 out of seven days they don't need to eat every day....a little aquarium salt and a little stress coat is all it should need to make ideal conditions for him...

Put a little water condistioner in it to be safe. And maybe a pinch of aquarium salt to make him happy. I feed my fish 4 pellets in the morning and 5 at night. But you don't ahve to feed them that much because that jsut means you have to change the water more. It's best to feed them as much as tehy can eat in 3 minutes 2 times daily.

Hello,
Distilled water is best, but we have even used standard tap water that we distilled and had at room temp, Bottled spring water is fine. They are hardy if they are healthy. Don't bother with any chemicals. Change the water regularly and generally keep it's habitat clean. Feed it a small amount daily. It's only one fish and doesn't need much. Over feeding will only result in a dirty fish bowl or tank.
Good luck!

They're called "siamese" fighting fish not "chinese". There's a difference. Any way you can add bottled water to your bettas tank. That's perfectly fine. I don't feed my fish pellets, but I do feed him freeze-dried blood worms. I feed him as much as he can eat within several minutes.

I love Betta have had 6 just have one now I have never used any special water, this time they gave me a fluid to aid to water. I just use water at room temperature. If you are on chlorinated water let it set for three days Feeding every three days. If they do not get enough food they start to fade losing color.

Yes, that water should be fine. Basically, if YOU can drink it, then your fish can live in it. Of course, high levels of chlorine in some tap water are not good for fish, even though you can drink it, but bottled water shouldn't have any chlorine in it. I have a thirty gallon aquarium that I fill with my tap water (I have town water) and no chemicals and none of my fish ever get sick.
