What in God's name does cutting have to do with being white?
They start because they are depressed and feel like they aren't "real". It releases chemicals in the brain that are basically drugs, so it then makes them feel good, and they do it whenever they get depressed, but they need to do it more and more to get that feeling each time as with any drug, it is a way they feel human, it is a cycle of wanting because they won't ever be truly satisfied and feel in control but are helpless.

For most people that cut, physical pain represents terrible emotional pain they're feeling. It's like they're making the pain 'real' or so they can see it.
There's a line from a new song that's out...it's called Pain...and even though the song is not about cutting..."...cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all." could be another reason they do it. They don't feel love or saddness...and haven't for a long time so they cut to feel something.
You'll probably get better answers from actual past cutters or from someone that knew/knows a cutter, but that's why I think they do it.

(1) They want to cause a distraction or forget about the emotional pain that they feel by causing physical pain to themselves.
(2) It releases adrenaline and endorphins that temporarily numb the pain and gives them a rush.
(3) It's a way for them to vent their frustrations. or
(4) It's a cry for help
I'm not a doctor. So, I'm not sure why they do it but these are my theories based on what I've heard. I sort of understand it but not enough to do it... I wouldn't be able to get past the pain and bleeding part. Lol

I from most part I hear it makes them feel more human and have emotion because their so sad blah blah. Who cares it easir to cut ur self than actual try to solve the stupid problem. I hate cutters/goths/emos/ what ever they call themsevles just be useless cutting themselves instead of doing some thing productive being selfish as always is human nature just a matter of how they intend to be selfish.

It's a cry for help, because no one can see the internal depression so people do it as a way to let everyone know without telling them. Lots of abused children do it, because nobody knows what's happening behind closed doors and they need to let somebody or anybody know that they feel desperate.
And first answer, that's racist.

Why do whores have sex? It feels good to them. ^-^ People in general cut themselves as a release. Some people work out >.> that is something I suggest. It just calms em....Seriously....work out to releive stress <.< no cutty cutty

its not cuz they are depressed well it is but is away of the being able to feel the emotion. or just to feel in general

Umm.. Personally, its dumb to do that.. But Ive read books and they always say "To feel pain".
