Monty's confusing the film you named and the Bud and Lou feature Jack and the Beanstalk.
Anyway,...
Jack the Giant Killer (if it's the one I'm thinking of) is a 1962 fantasy starring Kerwin Matthews (who played Sinbad and Gulliver in earlier fantasy films), Judi Meredith and villainous Torin Thatcher. In it's original release it was an okay kids' matinee offering, with some okay special effects for its time (although not up to Sinbad or Gulliver standards)---not a classic, by any means. Strangely enough, this was reissued some years later as a musical, with added songs and sequences. Word is that this was not an improvement.
As far as the story goes, Torin Thatcher wants Judi (the princess) for his own and magically creates various nasties to carry her off. Matthews (Jack), the stalwart hero, braves the nasties and perils to rescue her. Standard stuff, but a few neat moments.
