It's Independence Day! Sure, it's July 4th, but why not just call it by its name?? We don't call Christmas the Twenty-Fifth Of December!

Because American Independence is the 4th of July. If we simply said Independence day, there are many countries that celebrate their Independence, but not on July 4th.

Because Americans know the 4th is independence day,
just easier to say celebrating the 4th of july.....no big deal

well because they call it the fourth, because on july 4th, 1776, they did the declaration of independence, and so thats why they call it independance day (also know as fourth of july)

It was the date on the Declaration of Independence, which is the document that declared us a country.
