Well, Guys, Would you like to tell me how dinosaur art and dinosaur movies evolved over the years? Especially Jurassic Park and the Unbelievably bad Disney's Dinosaur (2000) (A Disney CGI movie with talking dinosaurs and monkeys?!!! What were they're thinking?!!!!)? You know, what...For those who saw the Jurassic Park films, Dinosaurs are the schznit!!!! Well, For all the bitching and moaning that has been raging on not only on newspapers but also on the internet and so much more when Disney's Dinosaur (2000) was released on May 19, 2000, one fact remains: Those people found that film lacking in the soul and spirit in dinosaur films they have come to love and thought it way too kid friendly, and Disney-ish!!!! (They especially hated the talking dinosaurs and lemurs in that film.) So tell me all about Dinosaurs in movies and art over the years, OK?

Well, having grown up with the lame, pathetic "clay-mation" dinos of...many yrs. ago, I'm quite satisfied w/Spielberg's CGI dinos, and even many of those on the various channels like Discovery and Science.

I think making the dinos talk was a mistake for older people (like me!), but probably raked in millions from kids not old enough to know dinosaurs didn't talk! Hell, back in MY day, we had a flying mouse who saved harem girls (Mighty Mouse) and a weird sailor who got super-strength from eating a can of spinach, which he could somehow open BEFORE he ate it's power-giving contents...yes, those of a leafy vegetable... (Popeye) and I will leave the weirdness of "Howdy-Doody" for others to analyze!

All things considered, entertainment-wise, kids today have it REAALLY good!

I'm sure they'll find something to criticize, as technology advances, though.

First dinosaurs movies were not really realistiv at first as fossils remains and anatomical reconstructions were quite complicated for the time (over 30 years ago). So theories about how they look, walk and their level of intelligences and behaviors where not well understood if understood at all!
So movies where quite lacking realism and were mostly targeted a younger audiences and families, as those beast where mysterious and terrifying at the same time.

I don`t really consider any movies involving dinosaurs quite realist enough yet. Even Jurassic parc is still behind in many aspect of dinosaur development and behavior.
I do have collected a lot of unique fossils in the last few years and the things I have seen are far more advanced than what is portrayed in any dino movies so far.
Here are few exemples:
Dinosaurs up to creatceous were very advanced and social animals. The mother was raising her kids after eclosion of the eggs, and was defending them against other predators like todays bird. The older were sleeping with the youngest during colder nights to keep warmed and shield them against rains and predators at night. They were extremely social and intelligent, as some youngs were gathering together to defend themselves against larger predators in case their mother was not present, and usually died together instead of fleeing separetly. Some large dino were covered with feathers or proto feathers in some case, to protect them from low temperatures and climatic changes.

So those are the most important differences I could found between what movies are presenting and the real things. As for dino movies for childs, it does not really matter how realistic it is represented, as the important thing to do, is to mark their imagination and their interests about those beasts of the past, in order to increase awareness and studies in this field.
