Where the air tubing connects to an air pump (Dolphin Three-Star) the tubing turns a brownish-yellow over time (2-3 weeks). I have not seen this happen before. Is it likely to be air quality or the pump, or is this normal?

In response to the answers so far:
1) the pump is new, so unlikely to be breakdown
2) this is an air pump, so is no water/algae involved--the discoloration is at the connection with the air pump
3) heat could be a factor
Thanks for the ideas!

It's air quality. That can be from inside the pump itself and not the air being blown through the pump Sometimes as the air pump wears a bit this will happen as well.

Could be dust.

Could be the air pump is getting too hot. Tubes discolor when they get hot.

Mine have been discolored for years, it's fine.

i think that this is typically normal....i have a 30 gallon aquarium set up and it's been like that for a good year since I've had the aquarium. It's just debris and dirt from the fish/aquarium. It's nothing to be worried about. But you do have to clean if you want it off. Mostly algae and poop like that
