His personal problems aside he kept at least half of the United States happy at any given time on any given subject.
That's better than I would do. I respect our elected representatives even if I may disagree/dissent/protest their policies or decisions.
Hundreds of political offices go unfilled across the country because no one runs for them. Many political figures go unchallenged in their race for re-election.
The best we can get is based on US.
Unlike a monarchy, where the populace must learn and follow the leader, our system does the opposite.
Our leaders learn their values from us.
Look at how we treat them:
Guilty until proved innocent
name calling
spreading unfounded rumors
constantly second guessing them
sedition
We expect better?
We have to demonstrate better, or we get what we deserve and have chosen.
Speak up when you see such behaviors, and politicians won't do it themselves. Don't vote for those that do.
I'm a patriotic democrat. I don't.
Bless them all.

Instead of whining about Clinton, perhaps the RNC could field a credible candidate of their own...
It's going to be tough, no doubt about it. Republicans had control of all three branches of the US Government and spent 6 years sitting on their hands, doing nothing about a thousand important issues facing Americans everyday. That lack of action is going to be tough to overcome, no argument.
One of your party actually suggested Clint Eastwood for the Republican nomination. I mean, what is the obsession with film and TV actors? Aren't there ANY Republican politicians not yet so tainted with corruption they can't get past the doors of a church to get that all important "Jesus Loves Me and My Friends, But Hates You" vote.

Hillary Clinton is the very WORST person running for a major party nomination this cycle, so we have a lot of better, or at least less bad choices.

No, but the people most qualified probably wouldn't want the job in the first place. Only egomaniacs seem to want it.
