There does not seem to be in the national interest of the USA to actively meddle in the affair of the countries involved.

No. The US is trying appease Pakistan to get their help against terrorists and depends on cheap Indian labor so can't take a stand on Kashmir.

Though it is certainly advanced when compared to the developing status that India holds, many of the reasons why Kerela is so prosperous is because of the trade and employment opportunities that India offers it. Seperation from the rest of India would be biting the hand that feeds it. Besides, I think many of the people of Kerala are proud to be Indian.
