Bees are friendly and do not sting unless they are defending the queen and the hive or the pollen booty they are carrying for the benefit of the hive. That is because they die once they sting. The exception is killer bees who sting like wasps are too agressive and a threat to peaceful bees.

They choose to preserve their own life mostly.

No, the asker is right. Pet bees don't sting. You have to pick the right one though. I'm not sure which one it is; it might be young ones or females or males. It's one particular group though. My friend showed me- he found a swarm of honeybees and cupped one in his hand. A few minutes later, he let it free with no sting. I'm not sure which one it is, but one of them does not sting.

I am not sure what a pet bee is.

Bumblebees (queens and workers) can sting, more than once too.

Carpenter bees, which look like huge bumblebees, can bite but generally do not.
