My virus scan runs automatically on fridays. It is set for 4AM on fridays.
But that means when i turn my computer on on firdays , that is when it scans, when im doing other stuff.
What is the reason that it can't auto scan while the computer is off? (when it needs my assistance to choose an action it doesnt need it till its done)

You can set up the scan so it brings the machine out of Standby. Here's how:

1. Click on the Start->Control Panel menu item.
2. Click on Performance and Maintenance.
3. Click on Scheduled Tasks.
4. Find the task in the Scheduled Tasks list, right-click on it and select Properties.
5. Click the Settings Tab.
6. Way down at the bottom is a check box "Wake the computer to run this task." Check it.
7. Click OK.

Now, as long as you're logged in when the time comes, NAV will run a scan. If you want it to run at 4AM on Fridays, leave yourself logged in Thursday when you go to bed.

The computer cannot do anything if it's turned off. No virus scan, no email, nothing.

Reschedule the virus scan to a time when you can leave it on when you dont need to use it.

No power = no work.

Because Windows is stupid,....even though I have it myself. Just do something on the PC while its scanning, or go out shopping.

Your computer has to be on to do anything. Simple solution is to turn on your machine on Thursday evening, leave it on and turn off the power saving features.

It can't scan when it's off because that's impossible. Does your car run when it's off? How bout your TV? Does your oven heat food when it's off?
