There's been a couple of coelacanths caught. If more have been caught, the possibility of coelacanth parts ending up in our cans of tuna are pretty good (although there's probably more porpoise) since a lot of commercial fishermen wouldn't recognize it.

Scientists are looking for the Giant Squid, the one with the 5' diameter eye and tentacles that can surround and sink a small, but expensive, boat.

Now, that's just looking for trouble...

There are many things at the bottoms of the ocean that we do not know about. Recently, fishermen have netted fish that were thought to be extinct. The Giant Squid was a myth until recently. Yes, it is possible that ancient species still exist in the dark depths, but is it a prehistoric giant........Not likely!!!!!!

Thank you Geolicious........I could not remember the name of the fish recently netted!!!!

Yes, this is the entire theory behind the Loc Ness Monster. It could be an old dinosaur that refused to die out and is still reproducing, a little. How else do you explain the years and years of sightings?
