So who would get the award like an Oscar or an Academy Award?

The Best Movie Oscar always goes to the Producer(s) of the film. The rule has always been, only the first 3 producers of a film get statues. This caused an upset this past year when 'Little Miss Sunshine' won Best Picture and there were 5 Producers, but only 3 statues to give them. So the Academy changed the rule so next year and thereafter, up to 5 Producers can win statues for a single movie.

The Director can win for Best Director but can not win for Best Picture unless he was 'also' a Producer. Usually after they announce Best Director, you can guess which movie is gonna win Best Picture, but not so the case in the past few years, there've been a few upsets :-)

It depends. Usually its the director but a high profile producer (such as Spielberg or Bruckheimer) would sometimes get the credit.

Both of them. One can not succeed without the other.
