It depends on the commitment that each person has to their faith, or lack therefore. If the Christian is very devout and observant, the relationship might not work for a very long time. There is a fundamental difference in values there.

As long as neither of you are pushy or preachy, it'll work out just fine. And if being raised in a half Christian household is brainwashing, I should tell you how people really brainwash others. Usually brainwashing is done in a dark room, some secret place or base( sounds very science-fictiony, but it's true. Most brainwashings are done to war prisoners.) They repeat the same thing over and over again, don't let the victim sleep, and their mind finally breaks and they agree with and do everything their told, like zombies. A child being taken to church, or having a cross over their door, or celebrating Christmas, is not going to make them think "All evolution is impossible and fake". Most Christians don't think that. It shouldn't matter to you, it doesn't effect you, and it won't make your childrens lives any better or worse.

A true Christian will put their relationship with Christ before anything else in life. A non-Christian may become jealous of this.

Also, Christians are called by Jesus to evangelize and spread the good news to non-Christians. An atheist spouse may become tired of this.

To make the relationship work one of them will have to do some serious compromising.

If one is a "true" atheist and the other a "true" Christian, there are fundamental differences on how one sees and reacts with the world. It could be done, but I believe that there would be a lot of heart-ache after the "honeymoon" is over.

God says only marry other Christians. We shouldn't be unevenly yoked.
