Glad to hear your using your quilt. That's what their for, but if your looking to keep this after she grows out of it as a momento then you'll want to take some care with how it's cleaned. Most quilts are washable. However, before washing check the consistency of the stitching both at the seams of fabric as well as the overall quilting stitch (stitching in pattern all over quilt keeps the stuffing inside from moving about). If it seems pretty sound then you can put it in the washing machine otherwise wash by hand (especially if the blanket has no quilting stitch). If in washer make sure you wash on either cold or warm with a cold rinse to protect against color transfer. Don't use bleach or any cleaner that may effect the colors just a little soap and softener if you want. Since it's a blanket you can certainly put it in the dryer but on low only. High heat may cause shrinking which could effect the stitching or how the fabric lays.

You can wash your quilt, it's better when it's handwashed with cool water and without any detergent (etc.) just a small bit of light soap will do (eg: dove). Don't machine dry - quilts easily shrink :) Just hang dry, it works the best.
Once your baby gets a little older you can probably use detergents to wash the quilt - but leave it to hang dry just the same :) Hope this helps :D

It depends on what it's made of but I can't imagine someone giving you a baby quilt these days that can't be washed. Babies make messes. Go ahead and wash it before stains set in.
Most quilts are just made of cotton or cotton/polyester blends which are both very washable.

Cold water in dreft. If it has any stains soak first then gental wash. Look at all the stiching after the wash if it is okay dry it in the dryer. If it is coming apart let it dry on a sweater dryer.

You should be able to wash and dry it as you normally would with any other blanket. The true test of your friends sowing ability is when you get it out after a few washes and all of the pieces are still together! lol!

I have quilts that I wash but i do it on delicate cycle for both the washer and dryer

CCold water, woollite or Dreft , dry in dryer for 5 minutes and lay flat to finish drying

You can wash it on the gentle cycle but you have to air dry it

I had one too made for my son and was a bit wary of washing it but I bit the bullet and washed it on cold, gentle spin and then dried it on low and it's fine.
