We had a new roof put on, and went from a gray roof to a brown roof. The house has a section of brown brick on the front, and the rest is cream colored stucco. The trim is a rust brown.
Questions - we have gray canvas awnings. Can we paint them? And what color should they be?
Should we have shutters? What color should the shutters be?
Thanks to all you artistic types for your suggestions!

I think you need to add some color! You can absolutely paint your awnings, and if you decide to get shutters, I'd paint them the same color as your awnings. I'd go with a blue. But stay away from reds and oranges since you already have that in your brick and trim.

You can probably use a fabric dye like you would find at a craft store to dye the awnings. As for a color suggestion for awnings and/or shutters I would suggest something in Blue.
Blue is a beautiful contrast to brown and would work well with Grey awnings if you didn't want to paint them.

you can paint canvas, but it won't typically hold up that well under weather. Canvas can be dyed however, I've personally never dyed canvas, not had experiance with it's durability.
