OK,if you paid your friend to replace the gasket and the next day there was fluid all over the ground HE did something wrong and needs to take it apart and do it again because he probally destoyed the gasket he just put in by pinching it or maybe he just didn't tighten all the bolts. Now you said he took the car? If he drove it off with leaking fluid he may have burnt it up and that's also his responsibility. The gasket has pretty much nothing to do with the inner workings of your transmission if it worked properly before it should work properly now and regardless of that there should NOT be a puddle of fluid under your car after doing a tranny gasket.Tell him to fix your car NOW!!!!

out of curiousity why did you do the gasket in the first place
