Sure you can, that old 1" per gallon myth is total BS. You can easily add a few ghost shrimp and 3-4 rasboras.

The 1 inch per 1 gallon rule is...follow MM's advice on that:P
But yes, you could add a Ghost Shrimp or two and a couple Rasboras (not too big though).

I would say that as long as the rasboras are the types that stay small, like the harlequin or the phantoms, then you should be fine. Shrimps are fine too, they hardly put out any ammonia. If you added live plants like anacharis, cabomba, hornwart, etc, then you will really be able to keep an assortment of small creatures. Red cherry shrimp will fit in nicely. You might want to put the betta back in it's bowl, keep an eye on it, and if it shows signs of stress, move it.

I tend to be a little conservative on tank overcrowding. It looks as though you are already full. Although they would probably get along with your other fish (not sure about the ghost shrimp and the betta though), you would be overcrowded and risking the health of your other fish.
The general rule for tropical fish is one inch of fish per gallon of water.

nicely, had you no longer have been given the cherry Barbs, you have have been given been able to get a Betta, as long as he did no longer attack the guppys (Bettas can sense threatened via them as to them they are able to resemble different male bettas with their bright colorings and long fins. some tolerate guppies, and spot them as no possibility, whilst others will kill them.). The Barbs being in there has made it somewhat complicated, as you are able to no longer have any fish with long fins, as cherry barbs are infamous fin nippers. possibly a great catfish or pleco might tournament, in spite of the very incontrovertible fact that those could be on the backside of the tank for many human beings of time, so does no longer be as noticable. in case you have an aquarium measuring over 4/5 foot, perhaps a bala shark might tournament your desires. They strengthen great nonetheless, so as I pronounced, a minimum of four/5 foot of length of aqarium is nescescary. wish I helped = )

No, unfortunately your tank is overstocked as it is. You definitely can't add anything else.
