This very subject has been on my mind for the last month, as I had to let go of a friendship because my friend could not let go of the fact that she was black and I was white. For five years I tried so hard to show her I was no different then her. We shared so many of the same things, same kind of problems, same kind of feelings about issues aside from racism. But when it came to black and white, it was something she just could not let go of, and punished me for others actions or attitudes. I took it to show her that there are people out in the world that don't see a color, or a difference in culture, or a difference in language and way of being raised. I failed. However I will never let go of my feelings that we are equal. Differences yes, but equal. We each can make choices when it comes to manners, morals, integrity, and humanity. So I along with you look for these answers, I search for where I failed her, and I pray that each and every person I know or meet in the future, will know they are just as important as anyone else in my heart and in my eyes.

I toatally understand what you mean, and in most cases you are right! Hate is never a good option! However there is such a thing as extreme dislike and in some cases that is warranted. If you dislike someone based upon their actions, that you know they personally did themselves or that they actually do, Then it is fair. It is unfair and ignorant If i was to say i hate that person they're a certain ethnicity, or i can't stand that person because they have black hair, etc. However If i was to say i can't stand that person because he always is eatindg doggie doo doo off the ground and trying to talk to me really close in the face, then your dislike for that person may only be natural (although hopefully you would still try to get him some help, or something)

I think that once you get passed a persons doubts and fears and get to know them.......and give them a chance.......to get to know you......everything you just stated goes right out the window.People will never always see eye to eye but there is ALWAYS common ground for us to stand upon.God created this ground and we should have the tolerance for other people that God has for us !!!
