It depends on what we're going to be doing. If it's some place with shops that we don't have in my area then I would say 4 hours or so. I live right in the middle of NC so I would travel almost to either end.
If it's just for a day of hanging out and dining then I would say about 100 miles.

Nothing that is over 2 or 3 hours away. So maybe 120-180 miles. If you aren't staying overnight and you are coming right back, you don't want to spent almost the entire day on the road.

Just a day? If I could take a plane, I would go anywhere. I would even travel to Europe, which is over 9 hours away for me.
