Without a doubt-- The Birds. I really don't have a reason why. I've seen it several times since I was a kid. Just a good memory of watching with my mom, maybe.

My favorite would have to be "Shadow of a Doubt", Hitch's own favorite--filmed in 1943, in Santa Rosa, California (just up country from San Francisco, where I live), "Shadow" is a deceptively simple story about a small-town family whose beloved Uncle Charlie comes for a long visit. Happiest of all is his niece, also named Charlie, because they've always seemed to be on the same wavelength. But Charlie soon discovers that her Uncle Charlie has many secrets...including one that could cost her her life...
A marvelous ensemble cast, a perfect screenplay (written with help from Thornton Wilder, author of "Our Town"), and an outstanding production design and direction by Hitchcock make this a haunting and unique gaze not only into the American family, but the mind of murder...
As Hitchcock once said of this film, "It brings murder back into the home, where it belongs."

Psycho. The ending had me thinking about it for 3 days afterwards. Although Hitchcock is great, it's hard to pick just one...if I can have two, I'll go with Strangers on a Train for it's nail biting suspense!

My favorite Alfred Hitchcock film is "Rear Window", because of the suspense superimposed on people in such ordinary circumstances (an incapacitated newsy neighbor - what he discovers - AND - the final struggle !!!)

Rope is awesome!
The two hosts are having a party and their guests keep asking where one of their friend's is (they are waiting for his arrival). The hosts deny knowing anything as to his whereabouts. The suspense keeps building and it's so scary as Hitchcock so masterfully sets up the situation to slowly reveal the truth. It's great! Check it out.
