Check the record. Just like a family, the country must spend to pay it's bills. Republicans have spent more and created more bills (debt). Democrates have paid the Republicans bills and still created a surplus. They have lowered the need for taxes. The two largest surpluses ever were under Bill Clinton and LBJ. Yes, the man who fought poverty in the USA created the greatest surplus. Go figure!

Liberals at least like to pay their own debts, not dump them on the backs of future generations. Republicans have too many corporate executives in their ranks, people who think the purpose of the poor is to be fleeced by the wealthy.
So we have this horrible cycle: Republicans spend us into debt, then Democrats have to raise taxes to balance the budget and pay off the debt, then Republicans blame the Democrats for raising taxes in order to win the next election. And so it goes.
I favor a no-deduction flat tax and a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution.

republicans only lower taxes for the wealthy, folks! Then, we have a huge deficit spending, unlike any in our history! Dems, got the country into a surplus, under Clinton - then, Repubs., spent the h3ll out of it... took us into war (which made their 'buddies' even richer) and, put us into trillions of dollars in debt! We won't be seeing lower taxes no matter who becomes President! Or, we'll have to kill off all our "lenders" to make it happen...
Makes me wonder what world some people are really living in, today. For anyone who believes that republicans still stand for smaller government, lower taxes, and so on... look around.
Again, lower taxes are only for the wealthiest amongst us!

Both parties do whatever they think they have to do to stay in power. Vote buying is just 1 of their schemes.
As long as the 2 parties who have been in power for over 80 years can get away with it, they will. That's 1 big reason for term limits.

You see, the Republicans actually do raise taxes--somebody has to pay for the $3.5 trillion in new debt we have tacked on. They just leave the dirty work to the Democratics so they can blame them later.

You got it. The current administration spends like drunken sailors. I don't mean just defense either. I like lower taxes but not if you raise spending. They just do it for the votes. The dems aren't any better on spending.

Yeah, lower taxes boost the economy for folks that can buy stock. No one else sees that boost.

My favorite liberal Everett Dirksen once said, "you can't spend more than you have." Why don't the Republicans ever believe that?
