of course it can...and often, better than marrying for love without considerations for reality. Parents have the advantage of knowing their child, the child's needs, etc. Arranged marriages are not thoughtless and blind. My grandmother's marriage was arranged, she didn't meet her husband until the day of the wedding, she told me she went to bed full of fear, and awakened the next morning full of love...so much for marrying for love. With divorce rates running about about 70%, it would seem that perhaps arranged marriages might well be a better choice. No parent is going to ignore their child's wishes entirely.

Of course. Love can grow in an arranged marriage the same way it grows in other marriages. Matchmakers and parents can make good choices, sometime better than "falling in love".

Also, an arranged marriage does not mean that the couple had no choice in the matter. In many cultures the matchmaker or parents make sure the couple is agreeable to the marriage before declaring it a match.

Real love is something that grows when tended carefully. Whether planted by passion or by arrangement, it's the commitment to each other that nurtures REAL love.

So many times we're tricked by the warm feelings of lust and passion that we think it's love. You can feel passion and love for someone, whether you choose the person you will marry, or that person is chosen for you.

Love is more than a feeling, it's more than passion and happiness when you're together. REAL love is a deep commitment to another person that you'll always be there, for better or for worse. The passion can and will fade from a marriage, but if it's based on REAL love, the marriage can continue. Our feelings ebb and flow, but REAL love based on commitment and honor is always there, underlying the passion and the pain.

REAL love takes time to develop and takes effort to maintain. It's not just there. REAL love can disagree with you, can even dislike you, but will always love you. Take a look at a parent's love for his or her child. The child may scream, "I hate you!" but the parent never stops loving. That's REAL love. That's the kind of love you need to have for your spouse, regardless of the way that person became your spouse.

you can learn to love and appreciate. actually the statistics show a greater success in marriage b/c sometimes a relationship built on emotions fizzle and are often not backed up with common-values/goals/interests/or can't overcome challenges in a lifetime commitment like-unattractiveness/job changes/fights/family-kids/in-laws.
having common ground and family harmony before an intimate relationship lays out the responsibilities that re expected and family ensures these responsibilities are met as well as not having other relationships to compare to you spouse. its a great chance of success. a great chance for love to developer out of respect and contentment-not just fleeting emotions. and you can work on romance

Absolutely. Those are the best marriages because they are committed to "the marriage", not each other (they don't even know each other well).

Because they're committed to "marriage", and being selfless and concerned about the other person, they learn to love each other in the process.
