Thinking of something most people wouldn't

2007-07-06 13:09:44 · answer #1 · answered by Bekka 3 · 1 1

Creativity is the ability to generate a thing or idea that is seemingly original (that is, not formally defined by a direct logical connection from previously known facts).

Many people perceive non-creative activities as creative. Art is not particularly creative so far as philosophy is concerned.

1. Creativity - The process of creating something
2. Creativity - The process of generating something uniquely without simply following existing patterns

We use the second definition. By the first definition, creativity can already be found in animals, machines, nature, factories and houses, literally everywhere.

Given the second definition, the process of creativity most easily occurs by mental trial and error of the combination of ideas or things which are not previously linked. That is, whenever two things are pieced together which are not imagined to be put together, and the result is successful to some purpose, creativity is achieved.

Creativity is the joy of elegant functionality, the beauty of minimalized reduction to practice, the way it *has* to be.

1) Look at problem.
2) Think real hard.
3) Write down answer.

How would you drill 8 micron-wide holes through a millimeter of Plexiglas disk? That is an aspect ratio of 125:1. Good luck, Charlie. The creative solution was to cast a plastic rod with 8 micron glass wool tensioned parallel to its long axis. Cut disks orthogonally. Dissolve out the glass filaments with fluoride and a little ultrasonication to move it along.

Think outside the toroid.

This is a great question! And not an easy one to answer.

Using the existing things we know to combine them in a new way is innovation.

Creativity is using the product of innovation to bring into being something that has never before existed. The “something” can take any form (physical, spiritual, emotional, political, mechanical, etc.) or assume any structure that exist in the purview of human endeavor or it can be something completely new. When the creation is something many people find useful, the creator is called “genius”.

by definition it is the ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, or patterns
but that's not a very creative answer...
to me it means being as original as possible even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone and thinking that you will work not only outside the box but past the limits of where you thought you should stop...pushing yourself to the edge and then tipping just far enough over to make things interesting and to capture other people's attention by seeming so NEW that they have nothing left to say but "now that's creativity!"

It is a Divine gift...a spiritual force and law.

It is a product of life and we are an extension of it on this earthly plane.

It can be used purely for love and beauty or sidestep into less productive and healthy expressions of darkness. All things in between are possible too!

It is life. It is beyond 'life' if we cultivate it. If we allow it to flow through us with gratitude and without restraint it is alive with Divine potential......

It is a craft and art a meditation, a lifestyle, a devotion a calling and a religion for many.....

for me it is a life path that has brought immense healing and beauty...expression and joy.

Objective imagination is the means to create something else, something original, unique, very yours...then you're being creative.

Good luck!
