There are many, many sociopaths who live just fine in society. They prosper, in fact. The problem is that the sociopathic personality takes so much from other people, DEMANDS so much and gives nothing in return. Relationships in general don't survive, leaving the sociopath continually empty and often depressed. And while they don't consider anyone else's feelings, they are consumed with their own. What emotions they do feel are often outrageously exagerrated. Whatever the flawless front they are able to put on (they are superb actors/actresses), they are generally unhappy people who feel that nothing is ever enough.

Umm...but you'd be a sociopath. You'd always be depressed, you'd think the world was out to get you, you wouldn't have any friends...in short, there are these and other reasons why it would be horrible to be a sociopath.

The down side would be, you'd lose all your independence. You wouldn't be able to hold a job, couldn't live on your own without a job. You'd become Government bought and paid for - for care, food, and shelter. That, leads to State employees telling you what you can do and when. Kinda like a socialist society.

Why would you think that? To be a sociopath would mean you have no feelings for anyone. That no one is your equal. To me that would very lonely but if you're that vain so be it.
