This year is turning out to be a memorable one:
*My (ex) wife left me last year.
**The kids decided to live with her after about six months with me.
**They were afraid of me and hated my guts for about six more months.
**The kids are back with me (daughter by court order, son for the summer) after six months of neglect (i.e., unbathed, underfed, kicked out of school, cutting classes, etc.).
**They're finally coming around after about two months with me (they're actually smiling, again, and acting more responsibly, etc.).
*My job
**The money situation seemed to be quite bleak.
***WAY too much out-of-pocket for health care, etc.
***Paying 2/3 of my take home pay to my (ex)wife.
***I was eating boiled rice and fresh vegetables for two months, and it seemed that I was going to lose my house and become homeless.
**My attorney found out that I had misread the court settlement doc., and that I was paying TWICE what I was supposed to ...
**Our contract got settled, and I was able to actually get a pay raise (AND a juicy retro check ...).
*I was not able to secure summertime employment after three months of searching.
**I was inundated with three offers on graduation night within about five hours of each other.
*Out of sheer loneliness, I decided to reenter formal martial arts classes after a 20+yr. layoff.
**I'd always exercised vigorously for the past 30+ yrs.
**I had no idea that I had missed formal martial arts training so much ("welcome home!")...
**I've begun tournament sparring, too (total blast!).
**So has my daughter! [: )
The past year has been both the worst and the best year of my life.
I am so very thankful to God for my Faith; without which I know that I would have truly "lost" it ...
I know that good fortune can and probably will change within the next several days/ weeks/ months, so I'm going to enjoy it for as long as I can.
