I have a hard time trusting people. And lately, I've been trying to get better at it. But one of my newfound friends has been telling me that an acquaintance of ours has been saying bad things about me behind my back. And that she doesn't know what was said, just that he said it. But my friend also can't stand him (acquaintance). So how do I know she's telling the truth and just not trying to get me to hate him too. i hope that made sense.

we were all co-workers. she had to work with him more than me, because thy were both managers. she was my manager, and she hated working with him, but she also hated when he would ask me to do things for him.

In the end, you can't trust anyone because absolutely no one can keep a secret. If you don't want something known to anyone then don't tell ANYONE. I have a life time of experience to guide you here. Nothing ever changes. Good luck.

Just because a new friend or an old friend for that matter, tells you that someone else has been saying bad things about you doesn't make it true. I believe it's best to go to the person supposedly saying these things and ask straight out if he/she did. Sometimes it's easy to tell if someone's lying. Watch their body language. They may say they didn't say these things, but if they can't look you in the eye, I would be suspicous.
Some members of my family spread lies about me and even those who should have known better believed them. It really hurts when someone says bad things about you. Trusting someone takes time.
Best of luck to you.

....Okay, when speaking, by human nature- when fabricating *lying* you generally look to the left. When remembering something *telling truth* you look to the right. -.- When a PRO answers, they dont look either way, they look ahead- THEN AGAIN, in doing so, >.> they already tell they are lying! Why be a pro when you could be honest and look right?! <.< OooooOoooOoohhhh! Be careful and follow your gut with who you trust and be careful what you say around people :P Tis better not to trust and manipulate, THAN be the one manipulated. Muahahahahaha, yeah bad advice. Shut up -.o

the only true people you can trust is family and yourself. truthfully you can never trust your friends, everyone WILL make a mistake because no one is god. honestly just be nice to people, but in the end you can only truly trust your family and yourself, because your family will truly love you. good luck!! i had your problem like a month ago

she may be jealous for some reason if he is paying attention to u, if she can't tell u exactly what was said she may be making the whole thing up, ignore it, distance yourself from the friend who is telling all of the tales.

it did make sense. but you have to try to figure out her reason for hating him maybe it's because he didn't like her in the beginning, and maybe she is jealous that you two are friends. my point is don't jump into conclusions. i did that once and i lost one of my great friends just because someone else was jealous of our closeness .
