This may sound silly but I've always thought Old Yeller was one of THE saddest movies of all time. I mean, come on! Boy loves dog, dog loves boy, dog saves family, boy has to shoot dog? That's just awful. Fried Green Tomatoes is maybe Number 2. What are some others?

Oh, man, I forgot Titanic. That part where that lady is tucking her kids in bed while the water rushes all over the room... Steel Magnolias chokes me up, too but the ending is happier than some other parts. And I thought Armageddon was sad, too. And Green Mile, too. My ex-hubby choked up when they were putting John Coffey in the chair.

Dr. Zhivago is the saddest and most moving, I have seen it a hundred times I think. My life has a lot of parallels to this movie. Though Old Yeller did put a lump in my throat when I was little.

The saddest movie I ever seen was The Notebook. It's about romance, and how bad the main characters loved each other. I won't spoil the movie but check it out. Second too that is Titanic. Great movies.

I agree "Old Yeller" is a sad movie. I thought "Bambi" was a sad movie too! I think the saddest movies for me are "Terms of Endearment" and "Titanic".

La Vita e Bella...Roberto Benigni
The only movie that ever made me cry even if it is subtitled!
My hubby choked up a bit with I Am Sam.
We both loved A Walk in the Clouds.

Both of the ones you mentioned are tearjerkers. Also The Color Purple, Finding Neverland, Steel Magnolias, and actually I just cried my eyes out watching Click. I thought that was supposed to be a comedy?!?!
