i think the number one thing you could do as you enter high school is know who you are and stay true to that! i just finished high school and that i can say was the best time of my life! i knew what i was all about and stuck to that! there will be a lot of times where someone says something untrue about you or makes something up but dont get caught up in all the drama!!! just brush it off like no big deal... and #2 dont ever do anything just to make other ppl happy!cuz in the end it wont help you out! at all and i think #3 would be to try your best in class there were some semesters where i missed a lot of classes and didnt care about my grades and i had to pay for that in the end!! and that sucked big time!! #4 is go to school activites im not sure if you like sports or dances but when i was in school i went to baseball games with friends and football games those are some fun memmories that can never be replaced and the school daces like prom and all that were a blast too!!!! #5 is never hate any one or not give someone a chance unless you know them just becasue they dont look like the type of ppl you normaly hang out with just give them a chance they might end up being a better friend then you think!! and im sure there is a lot more but just remeber to make to very most of the 4yrs you will be there and dont sweat the lil stuff its not worth it in the end!! good luck and have a fun summer

1. Manage your time well
2. Always take notes, even when the teacher doesn't explicitly tell you
3. Invest in a Texas Instrument graphing calculator
4. Organize your priorities, and remember them
5. Always be a step ahead; if an assignment isn't due for two days, still get it done the first day
6. Goes with #5: DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!!! EVER!!!!!!!!
7. Teachers are not required to give out extra credit, so take every opportunity that comes. Believe it or not, teachers like it better when people with higher grades take the EC opportunities rather than the people who rely on it to save their grades
8. If you don't have one, buy an ipod/mp3 player; at least in my own experience, music is very therapeutic-- relieves stress, etc.
9. Study groups suck... don't do them, unless you're that kind of person; they always end up being tostitos parties. HOWEVER, try to remain social, or you'll probably regret it
10. Princeton Review books; Barron's review books; Sparknotes: amazing tools for studying and hw help, but DO NOT rely on them.

ummm in no order:
1) don't procrastinate! spend your time wisely, start things early if you can...having said that, you probably will save things to the last minute, everyone does, so do be prepared for all-nighters if need be
2) upperclassmen may be intimidating, but most are nice, so don't be afraid to approach them, just don't act pompous or anything (you probably aren't anyway)...upperclassmen don't like when freshman act pompous
3) join activities, clubs...you'll develop interests, meet new people, and it looks good on your transcript!
4) volunteer somewhere...get a jump start on it so you have hours that will look good for college and organizations like NHS which require volunteering...but don't do it just for college purposes, go volunteer somewhere you really like
5) be yourself! high school can be scary and filled with drama, but don't mold yourself into who others want you to be
6) maintain your grades...it may not seem that big a deal, but as a senior in high school i regret a grade blunder i made freshman year
7) interact with different types of people...in different grades, different interests, etc
8) know who your true friends are, and stick with them...
9) don't create unnecessary drama
10) enjoy your first year! it really isn't that scary. don't invest too much time thinking about how intimidating it can be...it really isn't! take things as they come, and enjoy it because before you know you'll be graduating...

1. Work hard and get the best grades you can - and don't share them with anyone else and don't be concerned if "friends" make fun of you for getting good grades or working hard.
2. Listen to your parents and talk to them about what is going on at school - parents can be especially good about helping out with your social life - trust, me - they've experienced all the feelings you will experience socially at school and they have a very wise perspective to offer you - talk to them and listen to them.
3. Follow your parents' rules and stick to the values they raised you with - you can do this without coming across as a "goody goody" - just look the other way or don't respond when someone asks you to do something you know is wrong.
4. Make friends not just with those you think will help your popularity, but with others of character, of good morals and values - trust me - the ones you choose for popularity reasons might be fun to hang around with for awhile, but the true friend who will be there for you in a bind, and in the years to come when you need them, is the one of good character, values and morals.
5. If you don't understand something or have problems with a class, ask the teacher for advice or see the counselor for support - people learn in different ways and you might just be one of them.
6. Remember that no matter what happens in school, you are a good and valuable person - you will be embarrassed, even humiliated at times in high school - don't worry - you will laugh about it years later I assure you and believe me when I say that you should not judge yourself or feel bad when you screw up or make a fool of yourself in high school.
7. Get involved in a couple activities, sports or clubs that interest you - these things will bring you enjoyment when you do them as an adult and may just help you develop a skill or talent that you will want to pursue as an adult.
8. If you like someone and they indicate they might like you - go ahead and check it out - you may be right or wrong, but you will gain a lot of social confidence by checking out your assumptions now and you will learn a lot about yourself and others in the process.
9. Your parents or a wise adult is the best person to turn to when you embarass yourself as a teen - other teens are too busy worrying over the last time they embarrassed themselves and an adult has some distance from the situation and can make you feel ok about things.
10. High school is one of the most important times of life and it is increasingly important to try to get the best high school record you can - you will feel proud of it years down the road and it will be a great lesson to you in the years ahead for how to achieve and strive for good things despite a very difficult situation, which high school is, by definition. Good luck to you and remember, listen to your parents!

It's way better than you think dude, here's my list
1) Define your own person. I've seen Freshman (girls especially) get sucked into things and pressured by peers to ruin themselves. Stand above--No drugs, no alcohal, no sex, you get the picture
2) Define you friend circle--you are who you hand out with. Get friends with the same ambitions and ones you trust
3) Be yourself-- there is nothing upper-classmen hate more than freshmen who goes out on a limb to be noticed
4) Be NICE--sounds weird, but there can be SO much drama, just stay out of it and your life will be so much better
5) Get involved!!! Big one right here, you need something other than school, i.e community service, sports, clubs, something you love.
6) Focus on studies. I've seen too many freshman coming in from middle school who just want to have a good time. This is when grades start to count. No pressure, but remember you might want to study for your math test insead of going to the mall on school nights.
7) Go in with confidence-- I you know who you are and you are focused on kicking butt in everything you do, no one (even the seniors) will be able to tear you down.
8) Respect your teachers and peers. Teachers will be more willing to help you in your high school career if they remember you as polite and devoted. Upperclassmen will have no issue with you if you respect their space (but don't stand for bullying! its unacceptable)
9) Play it cool-- no matter what, if things are tough, take it one day at a time. High school is supposed to be the best years of your life, so remember to have fun and work hard. Difficult situations are only temporary. Don't forget about your family--best support group I ever had
10) Discover Yourself-- find out what you like, don't like, are good at, enjoy and you start to build on your life. Figure out who you want to be and what you want to accomplish from the very beginning. (Do you want straight A's or want to make it to the Honor Society?)

hmmmm, i think everyone would say a different ten, but i would say: dont procrastinate on anything!, participate, show up, be yourself, dont let other ppl boss you around-you are your own person do what U want!, learn by doing, be nice to everyone (but be a ***** when you have to), dont lend ppl money or pens, if you are talking bad about someone make sure there is no proof (like an email!), and save all your homework and notes until after your grades are sent out! good luck!

-G.P.A. (grade point average)- seriously start paying attention to your it freshman year, b/c most of the time kids come in thinking they have 4 years to raise their G.P.A. and after that first year it is hard for you to recover.
-Clubs- get involved in something, it helps socially and gives weight to your resume that you will worry about later
-Get to know teachers and have them get to know you for future recommendations when you choose to go to college. once again something you will worry about later
-Your hardest class could be so much easier if you do your homework and learn, i mean really understand the material
-Don't get caught up in relationships
I hope this helps high school will be much more fun than you're anticipating so don't stress out, you'll make it. Good luck!
