bank of america is everywhere, thats why i use them. there isn't really a best bank, they all suck in their own special sucking ways. its up to you to decide which bank sucks the least for you, i chose bank of america for that reason. wamu is one of the most sucking banks, though.

Customer service is the ONLY basis the choose one bank over another. The accounts offered by each bank are nearly identical once you get past the marketing terms.

Large banks tend to be very aloof and customer unfriendly. I find banks like BOA, Wells, Citi, etc are all like that. In addition they take every opportunity to slap you with ridiculous fees.
If you really need a Brick & Mortar bank and friendly customer service, try a local regional bank or Credit Union.
For example, we have local banks like PATELCO and SAFE CU here in northern California, which have branches and nice service.

You are at the best bank, hands down...
wamu has completely FREE checking...
no ATM cash withdrawl fees...
free checks for life...
free wire transfers...
1 free overdraft charge a year...
free money orders & cashiers checks...
.. and thats just with the FREE account! no other bank can even come close to that!
why would you want to leave? if something happened to your account, you should give your local branch a call and see if they can help you. theyre usually really cool about reversing fees that you may have gotten or helping you with any problems you might have.

I know a lot of people hate Bank of America, but I've been with them for over 10 years and love them. My wallet was stolen a couple of months ago and before I even reported it to them they had figured it out on their own, had shut off my card, and returned the money to my account.

Depends what you're looking for. But consider a Credit Union. They generally have fewer fees, and are more customer oriented.

i prefer a local bank. my bank is one that is only in my town. it has long hours, more atms, and cheaper rates and bonus rewards. but then again if your town does not have its own bank i have no idea who to choose. good luck

If you are thinking in terms of interest and privacy, then Swiss Banks are DEFINITELY the best.

credit unions are better than banks. pay more interest on savings, charge less on loans.
