1. Each make a list of the top ten names for boy or girl that you like.
2. Switch lists and you have ultimate veto power over five names, completely eliminated from consideration (unless there is a family connection.)
3. Look at the remaining 10 names (five from each of your's lists) and see if any have embarassing initials (like PIG) or other connotations you didn't consider.
4. Each pick two favorite boy and girl names. See if they can be combined into a pleasing compromise.
Don't forget to consider the meaning of the names, family names, and what initials may spell. While meaning of names may not be important to you, some people will notice if your child has a name with a particularly negative meaning.

I also had the same problem he wanted to name her Miracle and I wanted to name her something like Skylar or Kendall or Abby some names I had in mind. We couldn't decide for months it took us almost the whole 9 months to decide on a name. What we did was looked at the meanings and wrote down the ones we liked. We actually had a couple in common. Then we still had the problem w. he wouldnt move away from Miracle. So I explained to him that I was giving birth and I am the one who has the final dission in the labor room when you get the papers. I told him i would name her something completely off the wall if he wouldn't compromise. Sooner or a later we ended up with Destiny Sky S....... her (last name). We worked together... We also used alot of baby name sites and got other peoples opinion. Good Luck.. Just remeber you have the final say.

Go through ALL the names. Eventually you will come across one that you both like. Read the meanings and talk over why it is you like the name or don't like the name.
My husband and I are having a heck of a time for the 2nd child. He wanted Calvin or Maximus and I was stuck on names like Gabriel and Noah.
We have narrowed it down now and it will be Preston or Avery. It has taken almost the full 9 months to go through them but there are lots of books and web sites with names from A-Z from biblical to modern and from all over the world.

You will, it kinda works itself out...I'd sit with a name book or something together and read through it, ask eachother which ones you guys like and make a list, then go through it and see wich ones you agree on.

my man and i both went through baby name books separately and wrote down the ones we loved. then we compared lists and created a new single list compiled of only names on bot of our list..after that it was really easy to come up with Caleb Ryan.
