You have a big problem if you are also shy about being on stage. Actors have to be able to put themselves on exhibit as it were when they perform on stage. Acting classes and coaches are often not worth the money. Be careful. Since you are only 14, use your school to help. Take speech and drama classes. Tryout for the school plays. Let's see if you really want to act or you just like to dream about it. Let me know what happens. kencosp@aol.com

There are a lot of acting schools that have youth classes or teen classes. I highly recommend doing a search for youth acting classes in your area.

These programs usually go over some of the basics in regards to stage, television and film and the differences with them.

I have heard interviews with many actresses that are shy. Nicole Kidman has often spoken about that. Also, Kim Basinger is shy. She got into acting to overcome it! So, don't look at that as a set back.

There is also the promotion side of it as well. Acting classes to help develop it and then business side to help navigate a good career.

When you are ready to start promoting yourself you will need headshots and stuff. When your ready you should check out http://headshots101.com. It's an informational site on that part specifically.

Go break a leg!

You have to ask the acting coach how much it costs. Acting coaches set their own rates. Cost depends on city where you live. Only YOU can judge if you are helped by the acting coach. Every person may see something different than someone else. An acting coach in New York City may charge $500.00, in your city it should be less. You have to find your own answers to your questions.

Agents. You are NOT ready for an agent. Find an acting coach you like and study with her for the next 10 years.

If you doubt that you have talent, listen to yourself, you know yourself better than anyone else. Always listen to your OWN voice.

I was very shy when I started acting. I had wonderful New York City teachers and overcame the shyness.
