Everyone needs to forgive, forget is something else. But forgiveness is very important even for your own well being, it allows you to move on and get things off your mind. It is hard to carry all that baggage around.

For me I can say that about 99% of the time I can easily forgive and forget. However there are a handful of things that have happened to me over my lifetime that I absolutely cannot ease up on one bit. Things that grind on me that happened 10 or 20 years ago but they may as well have happened 10 minutes ago. Things that people have done to me that I have such intense disgust for that I could never forgive or forget.
It's quite strange. Maybe it's because I cannot track those people down and get inside the "why" of it all or tell them my side of the story. No control. They are lost forever. I hate that.

I never hold grudges because I believe holding onto negativity generates more of the same in your life and is not healthy. Some people pray for their enemies. I have found symbolic acts -such as burning a representation of the person or event that I felt damaged me, freeing myself of the hatefulness I feel while meditating to cleanse my spirit of the negative influence the experience generated.
But then some would call me odd.
You can and should remember bad events or influences in your life as that is how you mature and understand things.
Got to take the bitter with the sweet!

I wouldn't call it holding a grudge, but I'm not so quick to forgive and forget either. As Asope said, you can forgive, but you can never forget. I'll forgive, but I'll watch out and remember too. I don't forgive repeat offenders for a while.

It depends. Some people do not deserve forgiveness.

I don't try to forget it like it never happened, I will still remember what they did to me, so that next time I wouldn't trust them, but I don't intend to hurt them back, because there's no use of it, what's done is done, and u can't undo it..

Maybe it should say forgive, but learn. We would be lying to say we truly "just forgot"

My heart forgives but my mind remembers. "If a dog bites me I won't kill him but I would never make him my pet."
