When I adopted my dog. She was 8 weeks old and was supposed to be put down the following Monday. I went in for some dog food and came out with a beautiful 8 week old girl mutt. She makes me laugh everyday, so I guess it will be happy memories for a long time.

The 14-16 months surrounding Y2K. Alone, mostly, building a cabin, raising a flock of chickens, planning and preparing to harbor a lot of refugees from the demolished cities.
The eight, nine months after it didn't happen were even better, because I knew I wasn't going to have to deal with all the refugee thing.
But all the best times of my life involved going a minimum of a week or two without seeing, or communicating with another human being.
