In addition, Springfield Ill. even has the nuclear power plant (Clinton, Ill.) but still it's very close.
I used to love to fish the Lake Clinton (around the nuclear power plant). The three eyed, glow in the dark, 30 lb minnows were always the best bait to use.

Hell yeah! I've always associated The Simpson's Springfield with this one. One reason is during that episode where Apu was applying for US citizenship, and Lisa was showing him where Springfield was on a map, and she was pointing in the Illinois area.

Definitely not. The Simpsons family's hometown is Springfield, but the show does not say if this is Springfield in Illinois.
