at their nose or mouth, especially if they are UP CLOSE....it bothers me to look in their eyes...because i lose my train of thought...do you do that???...ALSO, just wondering do they know i am doing it????

I know what you mean.
I feel as if I'm too close to people as well. In which case I always look up at the sky, or to the left, or sometimes at my fingernails. I always try to back up a smidgen to keep comfortable distance.
The psychology behind it is that we don't want our bubble to be infiltrated. We need space, because we feel that the person who is intruding might have a bad motive. Keeping just enough distance from someone makes us feel....safe from "attack."
Plus, if you look at their nose, they don't know it; because the movement your eye makes is so slight, well, they can't tell.

I don't like to look at noses or mouths, I prefer to look at someone's eyes. Then after a short time, it is fine to look away briefly.

I think I know what you mean. But be aware that you might be judged somewhat negatively for NOT looking someone in the eye.
