""if you ask me... real issues are health care... education ... and the war on terror... and these really have changed a lot""

g - think about what you said.

Immigration... huge effect on the cost of health care.
Immigration.. huge effect on quality and cost of education.
Immigration.. terrorists have already been caught trying to sneak across the border with other illegals.. i.e... also effect on war on terror.

Immigration is the biggest most far reaching issue.... education, healthcare, crime, unemployment, terrorism, economic infrastructure costs... etc... all effected by immigration and its rampant out of control situation.

What is an important issue to one person is unimportant to someone else. Some people will vote based on ethnicity, color, religion or gender without regard whether the one they are voting for can really handle the job. Like the nice Christian gentleman who is in the White House now. Nice, perhaps, Christian, he says, capable, no way.

There are many issues important to this country global warming, abortion and affirmative action are three. They may not be important to you but to others they obviously are because they are making news and people are talking about them.

you're talking about those issues yet say immigration is a real issue?

hahaha... when was the last time someone actually did something about that? and there's a billion different figures out there on both sides...

immigration is no more an issue than the others... it's always gone on and will probably continue to go on...

if you ask me... real issues are health care... education ... and the war on terror... and these really have changed a lot

Well your asking a question based on your personal opinion. You don't vote based on those issues. Because you don't feel those are important. The people that do vote based on those issues feel that those issues are important. That's why its a Democracy.. It's not about what one person thinks. It's about what the majority of people think. Well, it's suppose to be anyway...

How are gobal warming and abortion not important?

Global Warming will greatly mess up this planet, raise sea levels, cause extiction of species, melt all the ice in Greenland.............................................. This is the only planet we have we must not destroy it. This is my most important issue for the next elections. I like this planet and I beleive you should definately listen to the consensus of scientists saying there is global warming.
Here is the UN report on global warming.

Also 30% of all pregnancies end in abortion. It is also proven that at 10 weeks old they have brain waves and can move around, squint, suck their thumb...... How can that not be a person? How can we kill 30% of the next generation?

Well, you have your pet issues and others have theirs.

Personally, I don't think immigration is an issue. On the other hand, I feel a womans right to make decisions about her own body is a big issue as is equality and the environment.

I think the biggest issue is Iraq....

Isn't America a wonderful place to live?

I believe the majority of American voters have not done enough research to thoroughly understand each candidate. Instead of taking the time to do that research, they may choose simpler ways such as which state the candidate comes from, how the candidate feels about the hot topics such as abortion, or which candidate does their spouse or their friends like.

Typically candidates try to be as close to the center as their party will allow, to avoid losing any significant amount of votes.

Every voter has their topics. None of those three listed draw me to a candidate. As a parent, I worry about education and healthcare, which are affected by immigration. I choose National candidates by how they will approach the world, since people who can't interact with people usually find a way to screw us up politically.

Ordinarily, these are just wedge issues to distract you from real issues. Then there's the off chance that he'll get to appoint not one, but two dishonest, corrupt justices to the SCOTUS.

It's really the fault of the Press IMO who just report what's handed to them (oooohhhh immigration reform)... rather than digging for real issues and standing up to politicians.
